Designer Spotlight: Loewe

While it may not be your immediate thought when you think of the top designers of the moment, Loewe has been a powerhouse fashion label for decades that has maintained its popularity and reputation through its high-quality and understated pieces. 

Started in Spain in 1846, Loewe began as a leather making brand with a workshop in Madrid - a workshop that still exists to this day. While it has always been a luxury, artisan company, Loewe was revamped entirely in 2013 when Jonathan Anderson took over creating "genre-defining Women's and Men's collections."

Jonathan Anderson, while creative director for Loewe, also has his self-named label JW Anderson. He became the first designer to ever be awarded Womenswear and Menswear Designer of the Year award at the British Fashion Awards. While Loewe's headquarters have been relocated to Paris since 2014, their manufacturing and craft continues to remain in Spain. Spanish royalty, like Queen Sofia, has been seen wearing Loewe's fine goods on numerous occasions.
