Another month, another fashion week it seems. Despite the slowness of the world in this past year, the fashion industry has been doing everything but slow down. The recent Pre-Fall and Resort collections released by all of our favorite designers is giving us an insider look into what we will be seeing this summer as the world opens up to finally see our style. So what have we been seeing? And more importantly what do we need to wear to get ahead of the game for these Summer of 2021 trends? First off...

An Explosion of Style

It’s safe to say that we have all been feeling a little restless in our houses these past months. With plenty of outdoor activities now available along with the world reopening a bit more, it’s only fair that we get to wear exactly what we want, exactly how we want it. The ever-rebellious brotherly duo behind Dsquared2 shows us their own style explosion with colorful looks such as this pink sweatshirt matched with a green skirt. So if you want to follow in their footsteps, let all of that pent up style inspiration loose through bright colors, maximalist patterns and anything you’ve ever been afraid to wear before.

Think chunky shoes and accessories, mix and match silhouettes, and bold statement pieces - maybe with these bright pink Prada platforms or a Missoni skirt in a classic shape with a fun twist.

Make it Mini

Every year the winter seems to last longer and longer, so when the summer weather finally comes back around it’s important to make the most of it by making our clothes mini. Calling all short skirts, dresses, shorts, anything to cool you down in this heat, while still looking cute. Etro shows us a mini dress with a romantic flair, but there’s a dress for every style.

Comfortable is Key

If we’ve learned one thing recently, it’s how to be comfortable. We have all become experts on loungewear, soft fabrics, and breathable clothes, and with summer heading our way, it seems as if this trend is going to continue. Christopher John Rogers highlights airy pieces in elegant silhouettes to make us both comfortable and put together in his Resort collection, and there are plenty of ways we can achieve that on our own as well.

Back to Work

Offices are opening back up! With that being said, it’s time to transition from our sweat suits and slippers back into our workwear. Chanel never fails to remind us of how fun workwear can be with their endless skirt suits and blazers. In general, all collections are giving us some style inspiration of how to transition back in style.

Acne makes going back to the office summer-friendly with a sleeveless vest, and Elizabeth & James can brighten up your look with a pink skirt.

Whether you want to grab hold of the styles we’re seeing on the runways or you want to create your own new trend, one thing is certain: this summer is going to be two summer’s worth of fashion. However, you choose to dress, Michaels is here to help you find that perfect look you’re going for.
