TREND REPORT! The Accessories You Must Own For Fall 2016
Posted on November 02 2016
Let’s get straight to it! We’ve brought you the must have sweaters and boots for this season… We’ve also showed you how to wrap your collection of scarves. What’s missing? The items we all live for, the things we all can’t be without – that’s right, accessories! I might be getting a bit crazy here, but I can seriously live in my favorite jeans, a few core black sweaters and my booties for an entire season if I have an arsenal of stellar accessories to really add a punch to my package. This fall and winter is not a time to be shy. The catwalks, media and even street style are showing us that this could be our boldest time yet! No one will tell you to tone it down since you now have the chance to pile it on… the more chunk, texture and color the better! Check this, below we are highlighting just a few of the must have accessories of fall and winter 2016 because it’s time to focus on the important things. Scream (go ahead, open your window) - NYC, those pages of Vogue ain’t got nothing on me!
No such thing as overkill, right? Cool, because I just want to pin blingy things all over me! For years the brooch was a cameo and belonged to our grandmothers... but no more! The word brooch has a whole new meaning to fashionistas. Life is sweeter when you can add instant glam to something so why not add a blingy brooch to just about everything! No longer meant just for your wool coat lapel, brooches are now being added to clutches and even to our hair for a little extra somethin’ somethin’. Don’t be scared to bling out (that’s right with more than one) anything that you think might deserve a little love.
Top Knot Love
The top knot bag is a lil sac of love. It’s like a bucket but smaller, sometimes with a drawstring and more functional than that wristlet we carried around back in the days when we hit the club before we owned sophisticated clutches. Nina Ricci, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and more showed us how to rock the new “it bag” during Fashion Week and we are so happy that a new silhouette has graced the stage. It was seriously about time!
The Pump VS The Platform
Both are fabulous and both give us a chance to reach new heights. The pump has been my personal go to for years! That toe cleavage and point just do something to me and make me feel undeniably fearless. Thanks to Jason Wu, Gucci and Loewe it’s back with a vengeance. The platform can be worn in a heel, bootie or mule style adding instant elegance and giving you that statuesque walk only seen in the Maison Margiela shows. Perfect for under a flared pant to elongate the legs!
It’s big and not so structured so we don’t quite want to reference anything you have seen before. It’s not a hobo but a bag that can carry everything you need and more! Time to think outside the box. No longer just the Louis Vuitton Neverfull, the shopper has taken new shape all seen in the collections of Proenza Schouler, Narciso Rodriguez, Phillip Lim and Stella McCartney. Start packing ladies, it’s time to tote-ally carry a bag Mary Poppins would be proud of. Time to schlep it all in style!

Cross Your Body!
Crossbody bags are always in – in my world. Who doesn’t love to be hands free?! No weight on the shoulder, nothing to hold and you never have to worry about leaving it behind. The crossbody was shown this season blinged out and bejeweled on the Burberry catwalks to classic elegance in Chanel, Celine and Chloe. Pick your size and pick your poison. This style could and should be highly coveted for just about any outfit - anyplace and anytime!
