The countdown is on until the Fourth of July makes its way back onto our radar. What does that mean? Fireworks, s’mores, hotdogs and hamburgers.... Whatever your annual tradition is, an outfit is always needed to match the festivities. This year is a little different than most. It hasn’t been just one year since the last Fourth of July, but two years since we’ve been able to celebrate the way we would like to. Now that the country is much more open to celebrate its birthday, we may be stuck for some style inspo beyond the expected color scheme of red, white and blue. Don’t worry… Michael’s has an idea for every occasion.

If you’re hitting the beach…

There’s nothing like a hot, beach day on the most summery holiday of them all. Just because it’s hot doesn’t mean you have an excuse to forget about sun safety. Good thing hats and sunglasses are always cute, so accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! And don’t forget your sunscreen.

He may be French, but Christian Dior granted our American wishes with these blue sunglasses perfect to keep us festive while this Rod Keenan hat shades us in style - both found at Michael’s!

If you’re keeping it classic with a backyard barbeque…

Backyards and barbecues can both be tricky to dress for. Put them together and you’ve got us at a loss for what to wear. From muddy grass that can turn your ankle if your shoes are too high to eating a food overload from the grill, it’s important to stay casual (yet cute) with loose clothes and comfortable shoes. Don’t forget to fit the theme!

What’s more American than a white top, blue jeans, and sneakers? We don’t know, but we do know that Michael’s has you covered. So if you want to win “best dressed” at your barbecue this Sunday, try out this flowy Vita Kin blouse with red details, these wide-legged Remain jeans that make pants doable in the summer heat, and these timeless Hermes sneakers you can wear with countless other outfit combinations.

Maybe the carnival is in town…

Or maybe it isn’t. But the Fourth of July is always filled with lots of fun games, whether it be bumper cars or a simple game of frisbee. There’s no shame in having a little competitive spirit, so you might as well go all out in active wear to fit the part.

This tie dye tank top from R + A  and some linen shorts from Vince will keep you on your ‘A’ game along with these Golden Goose sneakers that will add some shine to your step.

And, of course, the fireworks.

Ah, fireworks. The most spectacular part of the day. The fireworks this year are sure to be extra loud and extra bright to celebrate all that we have gone through together in the past year. Whether you’ll be watching the displays from a rooftop in a city skyline or a field of grass outside your home, it’s important to stay warm, chic, and protected from any pesky bugs.
